Opossum Predators

Opossum Predators

Opossums have enemies to evade. The list is long as pretty much all ground or avian predators will eat opossums. Coyotes, foxes, dogs, raccoons, bobcats, owls, eagles and hawks will be watching for opossums. One strategy opossums use to stay away from predators is to play dead, or as we humans like to call it, play opossum. An opossum when under attack may set down, imagine it is dead, open its mouth while uncovering its teeth and tongue. And to add to the trouble, a noxious liquid is secreted from its anal glands. When a predator chooses to neglect the dead opossum, in no time, the animal will 'wake up' to continue routine practices. It should be noticed that while an opossum is playing dead, it is completely aware of its circumstance. It simply needs the predator to be fooled into neglecting it. which makes Opossums great survivors. They are not imbecilic.

What animals eat oposums?

Opossums, although little creatures, (similar in size as the average house cat) don’t have many predators, and they also have a couple of interesting ways to break free when encountered by an enemy. For instance, you would anticipate that your cat or dog should be a natural predator for this animal, particularly if it happens to wander onto their territory " the yard. With a lot of extremely sharp teeth,  sharp paws, and a brain that is considered to be a lot more brilliant than that of a dog, it would appear as though the animal itself is in reality well outfitted to manage anything greater than itself.

Concerning what eats opossums—pretty much any predator larger than an opossum would happily eat one. These predators include foxes, coyotes, and bobcats, just as predatory birds, for example, hawks and owls. A few people also cook and eat opossums—and they believe they're scrumptious

A couple of the predators of opossums are owls, coyotes, hawks, and foxes. Unlike grown-ups, the young possums easily fall prey to potential predators. Young opossums have predators, for example, birds of prey especially eagles and falcons. Snakes and pythons also eat possums.

Other possum predators are dogs, wild cats, raccoons, bobcats, Rufous Owl, Spotted-tailed Quoll, raptors, great horned owls, and snakes also humans.

Coyotes regularly kill red foxes and breaking point their populations. Studies propose that coyotes may restrict other medium-sized predators that are littler than coyotes, including raccoons, striped skunks, and opossums.

Humans

If a human needs to eat an opossum, the advice is rather straightforward. Keep the 'possum in a cage for half a month and feed it table scraps. That way it gets rid of any infection that the animal got from eating unhygienic food in nature. These animals are pioneers.

When an opossum dies, it normally decays until the turkey vultures appear. And then they eat it. They aren't as meticulous as dogs, foxes, and coyotes are.

Horned owls do take a great deal of opossums. They are the perfect size for this species of bird owl, which is also known for eating skunks.
